A group of ten found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of circulating fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A circulating false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.
The pair married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
