The renowned publisher has appointed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Management Change Follows Mixed Feedback
The new appointee assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' disappointing early showing last fall.
Recently, the company's top executive a key figure notified team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which emphasized that playtesting had revealed the need for a more defined game identity.
The president noted that the developers is now overhauling the project with a renewed approach, aiming to satisfy player expectations.

This announcement mirrors a similar step taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Team—
I know you all just finished your gathering - I trust you’re as excited as I am with the recent updates. Last time I sent you all a update, I expressed the following: “I believe in this team. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative creators we have had the opportunity to work with - and we’re looking forward for that partnership to continue.”
With your dedication and flexibility, particularly over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.
The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS demo was informative. It confirmed the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had work to do. It highlighted the necessity for a more distinct identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the input to consideration and revamped Project ETHOS with a refreshed vision - one that’s poised to fulfill its promise to our audience.
Our confidence in this project increases every day. To further the outstanding advancement you’ve made, I’m excited to announce the new hire as the latest Lead of the team. After several months of conversations, he starts with us on next week.
Ben’s leadership and experience in the competitive gaming field is considerable, having spent the past decade and a half producing and leading some of the most well-known titles in gaming, for example the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in receiving him in the coming days. We are all excited to keep seeing the progress of Project ETHOS in the time to ahead.
David
Experience of the New Head
The appointee presently holds the role of senior developer and head of production at the renowned studio for their flagship title. Brinkman earlier was employed at major gaming companies in multiple development positions on the Call of Duty games, and, before that, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.
Game Details and Concept
Project Ethos was unveiled in last year together with a early access event. Initially, the developers portrayed the title as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative step forward on the style."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in real-time to fit your unique tactics," the description states. "Take on the competition with unique powers, challenges, and obstacles that change every session. Will you safely extract with your collected items? Or aim high, put it on the line, and hope your group can earn top ranking? The option is yours."
The game has not yet received an official launch window or platforms, but players can anticipate additional details as creation progresses.
